This finding is based on the sudden inspection which is held by Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Security Department (KPKP), in Santa Market, Wednesday (7/8).
Besides in Santa Market, officer also took food samples from 4 other markets in South Jakarta, namely Mayestik, Cipete Utara, Lenteng Agung, and Tebet Barat Markets.
Dangerous Food Still Haunting Markets in North Jakarta"We're conducting the inspection in 5 markets in South Jakarta. Then we found formalined tofu in Santa Market," said Head of Jakarta KPKP Department, Darjamuni.
Darjamuni continued, in the inspection this time his department also found the peddlers of Cipete Utara Market who are caught selling wet noodles containing of formalin with high concentrate.
Related to this finding, Darjamuni instructed his range to explore peddlers directly whose merchandise positively containing of the harmful ingredient. "We meet the peddlers directly and check the supplier. If it is also supplied positive, then we will process it legally cooperating with police," he asserted.
According to him, formalin is a harmful chemical substance if it is consumed by human. Thus the distribution must be supervised tightly. It also can cause kidney and liver damage and potentially causing cancer.
